Chester Triathlon – Results & History

History of the Deva Triathlon

The founder of the Deva Triathlon was Chester Triathlon Club’s Andy White, and back then it was the only Olympic distance race in the region. Andy was the Race Director for 13 years before handing the race over to fellow member Dan Craigen who made the event one of the best club organised races in the country.

Meanwhile, Andy collaborating with another Chester Triathlon Club member Chris Hulse, set up Active Leisure Events who put on the high successful and multi award-winning MBNA Chester 10k, ESSAR Chester Half Marathon and MBNA Marathon and Metric Marathon.

In 2025, Active Leisure Events took over the organising role for the Deva Triathlon in collaboration with Chester Triathlon Club.
Over the coming years Active Leisure Events, with its dedicated professional team, will be investing considerable amount of time, effort and money to make this event one that Chester Triathlon Club and Active Leisure Events can both be proud of.

Why The Name Deva Triathlon?
Deva (pronounced Dee-Vah) was a legionary fortress and town in the Roman province of Britannia circa AD 70. The settlement evolved into Chester. Evidence of Chester’s Roman past can be seen as you cycle past the Roman Amphitheatre and Gardens.
