Thursday evening rides
We will ride out from Sandy Lane Car Park, Chester at 18:30 prompt and aim to return by 20:30. Please meet at 18:15 to sign on.
This ride is a chance to be social but also maintain fitness. There will be upto three groups (depending on navigator capacity).
The groups will go at the pace of the slower riders. Faster riders will be accommodated by encouraging them to ride hard to the next junction and then turn back to rejoin the group. Once within clear directions of the route home, faster riders may be encouraged to ride hard to the finish.
Each week the navigators assigned to lead will post on our Facebook group advertising the ride route with advice about maximum/minimum average pace, based on the route(s) in mind.
If you are interested in volunteering to be a navigator and lead a ride please email firstname.lastname@example.org
What to bring
You must wear your helmet on our group rides.
We also strongly encourage you to use a front and rear light to be seen by other road users. This provides some safety at all times of year and in all weather conditions.
Please think about how bright and visible your clothing is.
Please bring a lightweight space blanket to carry in case of emergency. The club can give you one if you don’t already have one. Even on a summer evening you can get cold very quickly if you are lying on the ground with an injury or simply with an injured person waiting for an ambulance.
Please also bring a rain jacket, spare tube, tyre levers, pump, chain splitter, mobile phone, and ride with front and rear lights in case there is a problem which delays the group returning until after dark. If it is wet then please use a rear mudguard.
Navigators may carry a small first aid kit but with no expectation that they will administer first aid – it’s simply a resource from which riders can draw.
We ride from Sandy Lane car park, by the River in Chester. Please meet beforehand to sign on before the ride leaves.
