2020 camp cancelled. We hope to see you in 2022!
Spring Training Camp April 2020 – Playas De Muro
Tuesday April 14th to Tuesday April 21st 2020
Chester Triathlon Club Spring Camp once again returns to Mallorca and will also be based at the same hotel as 2018 and 2019; HSM Lago Park Hotel in the town of Playas de Muro. The hotel is walking distance to the beach and also has easy access to a variety of excellent cycling routes Majorca has to offer. The camp is a perfect way to kick start your season with 7 full days training in the sun combined with a social side. The hotel has been recently refurbished so all rooms are modern studio rooms. The hotel food is also very accommodating for vegan and vegetarians and comes with excellent reviews from last year.
The cost for the trip is £230 per person (based on two sharing a twin studio room) although we expect to be able to improve upon this with our group booking arrangement.
Transfers to and from the airport will be arranged for the ‘core’ flights at nominal cost.
There will be plenty of rides and sessions for all abilities and people are welcome to do as much or as little or as they would like. The camp is suitable for people training for all distances from sprint to ironman and from novice to advanced levels. There will also be a Strava group for members on the camp to join as well as a private Facebook and WhattsApp group (if they wish) – so info can be easily shared on the build up and also whilst we are there.
You can either bring your own bike or there are plenty of local bike shops to hire from.
Welcome Meeting & Safety Brief is compulsory

Provsional info … …
Tuesday 14th (Easter Tuesday) to Tuesday 21st April 2020 … the ‘Core Week’ (flexible with extra days available).
16 rooms have been booked at the Lago Park at Playa Muro near Alcudia. We have used this hotel for the last two years. Both the accommodation and meals are very good if not excellent which is why we are going back in 2020. The 8 day (7 night) stay is a snip at £230 pp half board. That includes a contingency which we hope to return to you so it’s likely to be even cheaper than last year.
All you need to do is book flights. There are 3 early morning flights from Liverpool on 14th April (EasyJet at 6am) or Manchester (EasyJet 6 a.m. & Ryan Air 6:20 a.m.). We will arrange the transfer to the hotel for these 3 flights. That is a small additional cost TBC. There is an early evening flight from Liverpool should you prefer. If a significant number choose this we will arrange the transfer.
The return flights on the 21st April to either Liverpool or Manchester are either early morning (10:15am) else late evening at 10.55pm to Liverpool ONLY. We will arrange transfers for these.
For any other fights you will need to arrange your own transfers. Mallorca is the biking Mecca at this time of year there are plenty of options including a local service bus twice a day to the hotel and the Resort Hopper Service. We (Iain and Tony!) can give you details if wish to use these options. It’s all very straightforward.
Return flights with Easyjet & Ryanair, or a combination, are currently less than £100. Prices do change, up and down, depending on ‘clicks’ and sales.
If you wish to travel on an earlier or later date that is fine. Just let us know – we can advise how best to do that.
We will be putting together a programme of rides and activities for the week which you can pick and choose from, else feel free to do your own thing on some days if you prefer. Swims and runs are usually organised ad-hoc depending on the weather and sea conditions and tend to be early morning before breakfast else late afternoon before dinner.
To secure your hotel room we need an initial deposit of £30 asap. We will advise how to make the balancing payment next year. To keep cost down, we have booked the rooms direct through Travel Republic. That makes things easier, obviates any risk to the Club, makes any cancellations minimally painful and provides ABTA cover too. We’ve got great deal: the accommodation price to the Club is cheaper than the hotel itself quoted!
How to secure your place:
- Pay your £30 deposit by Paypal to firstname.lastname@example.org
State your name(s) and Mallorca 2020. Send ‘Friends and Family’ to avoid PayPal Charges. You can pay someone elses deposit too – just be clear who the deposits are for.
- Book your flights (see above)
- Email us:
i) your flight details
ii) who your room-mate is (if you have sorted one else can do later)
iii) if you are taking your bike
iv) your mobile phone number (we will set up a WhatsApp group)
We will, in due course, suggest bike hire options (there are many) and keep you updated as to who is going.
Because it is the school holidays the hotel is likely to get booked very quickly so if you wish to go please confirm asap. Once the 16 rooms (32 persons) are taken we may well not be able to add more. 12 have booked their flights already!
Tony will put more detail on the Mallorca 2020 pages of the Club website in the next couple of days.
Iain & Tony
Mallorca is considered to be the mecca of cycling. The destination has been chosen to provide a brilliant training experience and facilities for athletes at all levels. Whether you want to tackle the world famous Sa Colabra climb; or whether you want to ride up to the lighthouse at Cap De Fermentor for a spot of lunch, all are welcome.
We look forward to seeing you all there
