Junior Tri Club

Chester Triathlon Club has an active junior section with young athletes aged from 8 to 16 taking part in regular training and racing.

Currently we have about 60 children who meet and train each Saturday afternoon for two hours. Between February and September there’s a wide choice of junior events, across the North West of England, in which our members compete.

We organise one junior race each year – a triathlon in the autumn. This forms part of the North West Junior Series and is suitable for newbies and seasoned campaigners alike.

Our team of coaches and parent volunteers place an emphasis on FUN, and PARTICIPATION in a SAFE environment, encouraging young people to achieve their potential whatever that may be.

Chester Triathlon Club has been awarded the Club Mark accreditation from Sport England, which ensures the highest standards of welfare for children and young people.

We have also been awarded the Triathlon England Children’s Event of the Year North West 2024.

Mobile Phone Policy

Whilst we recognise mobile phones have become a part of everyday life, we need to ensure everyone’s safety and wellbeing during club sessions. Mobile phones should remain in the athlete’s bag at all times in changing areas and during the session.

Any mobile device taken into the changing areas must remain in bags at all times. The use of mobile phones / recording devices in a changing area is strictly prohibited. This rule is in place for everyone’s safety and wellbeing.

Of course, there will be some exceptional circumstances when the use of a mobile phone in a changing room maybe required. Common sense must prevail and in an emergency situation, it would obviously be totally appropriate to use a mobile to call for help. Mobile phones may also be required for medical purposes, for example a diabetes glucose tracker, again, that would be acceptable but please discuss with the coach taking the session.

Instances such as those aside, there should be no need for anyone to have a mobile device out on display in a changing room or swimming pool area. Keeping them tucked away in bags and out of sight will ensure everyone feels safer so please resist the temptation to send a text, check your social media or make a call until you’re out of the changing room.

Anyone having a mobile device on display in the changing area places themselves and others at risk and may result in the Police being notified.

If you have any concerns regarding this policy, or other safeguarding issues please speak to the Junior Coaching Team or alternatively the Club’s Welfare Office Anna Woolgar welfare@nullchestertri.org.uk
We thank you for your cooperation.
