Swim update as at 29 Mar 2021:
Outdoor swimming venues can reopen from 29 March
Indoor pools from 12 April for individual use
Currently Swim England advise that adult club pool training can resume from 17 May

29 March – Alderford Lake
29 March – Collingwood Dock
1 April – Liverpool Watersports Centre
3 April – Manley Mere
14 April – Delamere Wild Shore
1 June (hopefully, depending on progress of groundworks to the park) – Park in the Past, Hope, Wales (ask to join PIP swimmers private Facebook group)
River Dee @Eccleston: caution – unmanned, only recommended if you are familiar with the river and the risks.
If you are going to swim outdoors, we suggest to refresh/prepare yourself with some outdoor swimming tips from sensible sources. You can find various resources about open water swimming here on the club website. We don’t recommend open water swimming alone, particularly in cold weather.
Our next swim sessions

Swim sessions are £4.00 for members (£5.00 for non‐members) + 30p transaction fee.
Non‐members can join 3 sessions and should be people who are considering joining the club.
Technique swim sessions
At the moment there are no specific sessions dedicated to technique. Coaches are introducing technique into squad sessions as most people have not trained for some time, but we can’t hold learner sessions yet, sorry.

Technique sessions are usually held at Chester City Baths on Saturdays 16:00 – 17:00.
Our Technique swim session is for all abilities who would like to improve their front crawl technique. It’s also appropriate for novice swimmers who are learning front crawl or those recovering from injury.
- New to swimming.
- Limited understanding of technique.
- May lack fitness.
- May include post injury rehab.
Training Focus
- Learn to swim front crawl.
- Develop stroke, using drills.
- Begin swim endurance.
- Develop lane discipline.
- Priority on technique, no pressure on speed!
Intermediate swim sessions
Temporarily, as of September 2020, intermediate swimmers can train:
Mondays 1930-2030 @ Christleton,
Wednesdays 0615-0730 @ Northgate,
Fridays 1930-2030 @ Christleton and
Sundays 1500-1600 @ Northgate.

Sessions are usually held at Christleton Sports Centre on Mondays 18:00 – 19:00 and Fridays 19:00 – 20:00, then at Chester City Baths on Sundays 18:15 – 19:15.
There is also an early morning session on Wednesdays 06:00 – 07:00, and an afternoon session on Saturdays 15:00 – 16:00, held at Chester City Baths.
Our Intermediate sessions are squad sessions that cater for a wide variety of abilities. As a basis, swimmers should be able to swim front crawl for at least 200m without stopping. The coaches will help you in terms of which lane you will most benefit from and if this session is suitable for you.

Advanced swim sessions

Fridays 1930-2030 @ Christleton and
Sundays 1500-1600 @ Northgate.

There is also an early morning session on Wednesdays 06:00 – 07:00, and an afternoon session on Saturdays 15:00 – 16:00, held at Chester City Baths.
Advanced swim sessions are squad sessions for those who are able to maintain a pace of approximately 1:50 per 100m or quicker over longer distances.

- Good level of technique.
