Swim sessions

Pools update as at 22 September 2020:

City Baths is planning to reopen on 1st November. To allow for minor hiccups, the Club plans to return to City Baths on Sunday 8 Nov onwards. The plan is for a phased return to our normal sessions, starting with moving the Weds am and Sunday pm sessions from Northgate back to City Baths and back to our original timings. We are grateful to the Northgate team for their help in arranging pool time to allow us to return to the pool after a break of over 5 months, but we understand from members that more people will attend when we can return to a “normal” lane training pool and our previous session timings.

Covid alert status: At the time of writing, Cheshire West and Chester and Cheshire East are categorised under the Government’s high Covid alert level.
We are following guidance from BTF. In the absence of further restrictions, the rules for high Covid alert level areas allow those who are permitted to travel to Chester/Christleton to continue to attend our club sessions. The control measures we have put in place mean that “it is possible for people to avoid mixing with people they do not live with or share a support bubble with”.

Swim sessions – where and when:

Technique swim sessions

At the moment there are no specific sessions dedicated to technique. Coaches are introducing technique into squad sessions as most people have not trained for some time, but we can’t hold learner sessions yet, sorry.

*****

Technique sessions are usually held at Chester City Baths on Saturdays 16:00 – 17:00.

Our Technique swim session is for all abilities who would like to improve their front crawl technique. It’s also appropriate for novice swimmers who are learning front crawl or those recovering from injury.

  • New to swimming.
  • Limited understanding of technique.
  • May lack fitness.
  • May include post injury rehab.

Training Focus

  • Learn to swim front crawl.
  • Develop stroke, using drills.
  • Begin swim endurance.
  • Develop lane discipline.
  • Priority on technique, no pressure on speed!

Mondays 1930-2030 @ Christleton,

Wednesdays 0615-0730 @ Northgate,

Our Intermediate sessions are squad sessions that cater for a wide variety of abilities. As a basis, swimmers should be able to swim front crawl for at least 200m without stopping. The coaches will help you in terms of which lane you will most benefit from and if this session is suitable for you.
