Tuesday evening runs

Starting on 26th July we will have a ‘back to running’ group
Sally invites all club members who have been away from running for whatever reason, to get back to running with her in an easy, inclusive group. The pace will be easy, the distance starting at approx. 3 miles, and the aim to find your run mojo and get back to running!

The Tuesday night run is currently from Lime Wood Fields.

The Tuesday night run is suitable for complete novices through to more experienced runners so everyone is welcome to come along.  If you have never run with a group before and are new to running then this is the ideal place for you to start.

Sally Napthen and Dave Taylor coach this run and split the group according to ability. Sally takes a group at a lower pace, which can include people recovering from injury and is suitable for novices – the only prerequisite is that anyone coming along should be able to run 3-4 miles without stopping!  Some weeks are steady run sessions, whereas others work on strength or pace.

Dave’s group will average 9 min/mile and is working on running technique, or developing running power with hill reps, improving pace with speed intervals or just steady runs. Two faster groups, paced at 8 and sub 8 are currently taken by Run Leads Gemma Kelly and Mike Waring with the help of Karl Pearson and other alternating run leaders.

The focus of all the groups is on self improvement with support from colleagues and coaches and run leaders.

All abilities are welcome.

We meet at 6.15pm (ready to leave at 6.30pm) every Tuesday at the entrance to Lime Wood Fields (under the sign) off Kingsway, Chester CH2 2LL. For directions please click here.

Club 5K Time Trials

A great opportunity for our clubmates to test themselves against the clock.
This is a series which will be repeated every three months, so you are able to track your progress.
The next one is on the 5th October.

Every Wednesday evening at 6:30pm the club holds a track session in Ellesmere Port.  This type of run training is excellent for increasing basic speed and educating the body in pace awareness. All runners can benefit from track sessions, no matter their ability. Qualified coaches are on hand to supervise and control different ability groups: usually Dave Taylor with the help of Ina Morris. The coaches will always have a pace chart but you can check it out here.

Please arrive by 6.15pm to warm up and be ready to start on time.

Track sessions cost £2.50 for members + 30p transaction fee, please book your session in advance here.

Off-road runs

As well as supporting our local parkruns, Chester Tri organise ad hoc Off-Road runs from various locations. These social runs are usually held during the autumn and winter months at weekends, but some can be midweek headtorch/night runs during the winter. They are usually about 1hr30 in duration at an easy pace with a re-grouping policy. We try to cater for all abilities but expect people to have some running experience for these lengths of time. Off-road running shoes are recommended and clothing suitable for all conditions.
