Our next runs
Tuesday evening runs
The Tuesday evening run is from Lime Wood Fields.
Please ensure you read the Covid information here.
You MUST book your session in advance here.
Club members only.
Non‐members can sign up here for a free 1 month trial membership, which will allow you to book & pay for club sessions during that fortnight.
High visibility clothing and lights are required for the darker evenings.
Meet at the entrance to Lime Wood Fields (under the sign) off Kingsway, here.
The Tuesday evening run is suitable for complete novices through to more experienced runners so everyone is welcome to come along. If you have never run with a group before and are new to running then this is the ideal place for you to start. We are keen to attract new runners, especially those who might be a bit coy about participating.
Our coaches Dave Taylor and Sally Napthen will take groups at a lower pace (about 10:30 to 10 min/mile), which can include people recovering from injury and is suitable for novices – The minimum requirement is that you can run 3 miles continuously, whatever the pace. Some weeks are steady run sessions, whereas others work on running technique, strength or pace. These will be unpressured, supportive sessions; social with the merest hint of a bit of effort to bring people on in their running with the option of moving up to the other groups when ready.
Other groups will be taken by a pool of alternating run leaders: Karl Pearson, Emily Jones, Ian Ainscough and our Run Leads Gemma Kelly and Mike Waring. We will adapt the sessions and number of different paced groups to suit those who are there on the night, working on developing running power with hill reps, improving pace with speed intervals or just steady runs. Paces can range from about 9:30 to 7:30 min/mile.
The focus of all the groups is on self improvement with support from colleagues and coaches and run leaders.
All abilities are welcome.
We meet at 6.15pm (ready to leave at 6.30pm) every Tuesday at the entrance to Lime Wood Fields (under the sign) off Kingsway, Chester CH2 2LL. For directions please click here.
Please make sure you are dressed for the weather. High visibility clothing and lights are required for the darker evenings.
Track sessions
Check out Brio’s video highlighting our track sessions here – quality training that everyone can benefit from, no matter their ability. Guaranteed to improve your pacing and increase speed!
Club 5K Time Trials
A great opportunity for our clubmates to test themselves against the clock.
This is a series which will be repeated every few months, so you are able to track your progress.
The next one will be in February.
All results are available below.
Every Wednesday evening at 6:30pm the club holds a track session in Ellesmere Port. This type of run training is excellent for increasing basic speed and educating the body in pace awareness. All runners can benefit from track sessions, no matter their ability. Qualified coaches are on hand to supervise and control different ability groups: usually Dave Taylor with the help of Ina Morris and James Jones.
The coaches will always have pace charts but you can check them out here and be prepared when you turn up!
The track is at Ellesmere Port Sports Village. For direction please click here.
Please arrive by 6.15pm to warm up and be ready to start on time.
Track etiquette – please warm up and down using the outside lanes (in a clockwise direction), only use the inside lanes when doing the main training session (done anti-clockwise). (It’s safer for people who are still training on the track and it prolongs the life of the inside lanes too).
Track sessions cost £2.50 for members + 30p transaction fee, please book your session in advance here.
Off-road runs
As well as supporting our local parkruns, Chester Tri organise ad hoc Off-Road runs from various locations. These social runs are usually held during the autumn and winter months at weekends, but some can be midweek headtorch/night runs during the winter. They are usually about 1hr30 in duration at an easy pace with a re-grouping policy. We try to cater for all abilities but expect people to have some running experience for these lengths of time. Off-road running shoes are recommended and clothing suitable for all conditions.
Runs can also be arranged through our WhatsApp group where members share their plans for a run, for others to join. Distances, meeting points and times may vary. If you would like to join our WhatsApp group please let James Morgan know through Facebook or run leads Mike Waring and Gemma Kelly via run@nullchestertri.org.uk.
