Beginners Seminar & Training Days

Beginners Seminar

Saturday 30th January – 2-4pm!
Zoom meeting!

Going with something totally different for 2021!  The likelihood is that we still won’t be able to hold the usual seminar so looking to host a zoom meeting!  How exciting is that!  A link to the zoom meeting will be put on here and also sent out to all competitors once it has been set up.

Topics covered will include:

  • What is a tri?
  • What kind of / level of training
  • Open water swimming
  • What to expect on the day
  • What to wear
  • Ladies triathlon journeys!!

I’m hoping to get some of our well established Divas to make a short video to share of their experiences!!

We’ll finish off with answering any questions that Divas may have!

The seminar will be led by Sally Napthen (Level 3 Brititsh Triathlon coach) with other triathlon ladies talking about their triathlon/quadrathlon journey from complete novice to all sorts of distances (by video)!

Ladies wishing to register for the zoom seminar should register at .  A link to the zoom seminar will be sent out to all Divas registering just before the seminar.

Bring your own tea/coffee, cakes and biscuits!

Deva Divas Training Days

Training Day

Date TBA for 2021

The training day will give Divas the chance to practise open water swimming in the River Dee, cycle the Divas bike route and possibly do some off road running within the Meadows (dependent on time – although Divas can always run before the cycle start).

The training day will start at 3pm and take place at Eccleston ferry.  Divas will set off in small groups at 3pm from Eccleston Ferry to cycle part of the Divas bike course.  Each group will be led by a Chester Tri coach who will give coaching points and answer any questions.   On return to Eccleston, Divas will then have the opportunity to swim in the River Dee.  Swimmers will be accompanied both by Chester Triathlon coaches and helpers in the water together with safety cover in canoes/kayaks.   The swim will take place at approximately 5pm. Cost is £3 per person.

Parking is limited down by the ferry – Divas are advised to car share as far as possible!

Any Divas wishing to attend a training day MUST pre-register by sending an email to  This allows us to ensure that we have sufficient coaches to support you all.

The postcode for Eccleston church is CH4 9HZ – however, instead of heading down to the church continue along Paddock Road, turn left at the bottom (don’t go through the Eaton Hall gates!) to get down to the river. Parking will be along the river lane or on Paddock Road.

Swim Training Evenings

Wednesday 16th & 23rd and 30th June 2021 – Provisional!  There may be an alternative cunning plan to get ladies used to open water!!  Keep your eyes posted for further details….

The swim training evenings will be based from the Kayak/Canoe Club on Sandy Lane.  This will give Divas a chance for more open water swim practise in the River Dee.  Arrive at the Sandy Lane Kayak Club by 6.30 for a prompt 6.45 pm start in the river.

There will be a chance to ask coaches any questions at each evening.  There will be a small charge of £3 per session – tea/coffee and biscuits included.

Ladies wishing to take part in the swim training MUST email Sally on as places are limited – hence 3 evenings!

Some of you may know where the Canoe Club is, if you don’t, see the map below.
Directions are:
Come into Sandy Lane from the Chester end, hopefully you will find a parking space on the roadside but if it is busy there is a car park at the bottom of Sandy Lane by the river/play area.  If you come into Sandy Lane from Sainsbury’s Huntington direction the car park is on your left hand side – park here abd walk up to the club at the top of Sandy Lane.  Just before the very top (before the Mount pub), there is a grey gate on the left leading down to the club house and riverside.
