Grant completed his first triathlon over 10 years ago, previous to that long distance running was his passion. Bitten by the triathlon bug, he found that this multi-sport discipline was the only path for him. He is currently a regular coach at Chester Triathlon Club, helping the 400+ strong club go from strength to strength across all disciplines: swim, bike, and run! Grant is a real believer that ‘Anything is Possible’ and loves how inclusive Triathlon is. Triathlon also brings out the best in people, with personal achievement rewards, and the supportive nature and comradeship with other athletes being like no other sport.
“I have just entered my 40’s, and now live in Chester (originally from London). I work for an Investment Bank as an IT Infrastructure Engineer, in Liverpool.. I have 2 children Verity and Wilf who are also members of Chester Triathlon Club. Yes it does run in the family!
Although I have always been interested in sport, my parents were not, but as a child they encouraged me to try everything. I swam at county level and excelled in cross country. I became involved in Triathlon in my 30s which is late but I like to think that with hard work you can achieve anything at any age. Which is another great thing about Triathlon being able to compete in your individual age groups.”
