I joined Chester Tri in 2018 shortly after I moved to Chester, I’m originally from Wrexham but spent six years living in Cardiff before eventually settling down back up north to Chester. I started running back in 2011 just to get fit after the excesses of university but eventually found triathlon in 2018 through a friend who was a member of the club who introduced me to the Wednesday night track sessions.
As others will reiterate, with all the talk about triathlon I was soon convinced to give triathlon a go completing my first triathlon at Chirk in 2018. In 2019 I then set myself the challenge of the Deva Middle and Ironman Frankfurt. There were so many training mistakes I made so early on in triathlon that I have learned from but that’s the best thing about it and challenging yourself to train smarter. Thanks to the brilliant coaches at the club and I’ve managed to improve year on year. What has surprised me most is how much my running has improved since joining the club.
With all the different kit, training sessions and even simply trying to fit it all in, it’s hard when you start out in triathlon, if you want any advice on getting going or have any questions, please feel free to get in touch. Likewise, to those who have recently joined who need any advice we’re here to help, the best thing about the club is no one takes themselves too seriously and most importantly it’s all about having fun.
