Jacob awarded Triathlon England Young Volunteer of the Year 2018

It’s official- not only does Chester Tri put on the best events in the country but we also have the best people. Our very own Jacob Waterhouse, has been awarded Triathlon England Young Volunteer of the Year 2018.

You probably all know Jacob Waterhouse, a young man who can always be seen volunteering at our events, often on the finish line with Dan. What you may not know is that Jacob has been an active volunteer for many years, volunteering for his Rugby Club, for his local Scout group, and being a valued member of the Delamere parkrun team.

Jacob has gone on to design, set up and direct our hugely successful Deva Aquathlon series, 4 events over the summer,  a tremendous achievement in itself.

Jacob was nominated for and won North West Region Young Volunteer if the Year, before being nominated for the national Triathlon England award by the BTF. He was voted the most deserving winner from nominees across all regions, every one of them a credit to the sport.

Jacob received his award from BTF’s Adam Gumby at Chester Tri’s AGM, ahead of the Triathlon England AGM where all the award winners will be celebrated amongst their peers, highlighting the brilliant efforts of those involved in the sport.

We can all agree, he is a very worthy winner.

From us all at the Club, many congratulations Jacob, and thanks for all that you do for the club, and at our events!

“This year’s awards have been about being influential and what has been done for grassroots multisport and triathlon. We have had more nominations than ever before. The winners have made a significant contribution and offered inspiration which is what grassroots multisport and triathlon is all about.”
