There are loads of opportunities in the North West and further afield to improve your cycling endurance and speed.
Have you ever wanted to try a time trial but didn’t know where to start looking? Or how about attempting a sportive to experience new routes and climbs in nearby areas?
Below are several links to helpful websites to get you started. There is a fantastic local time trial that takes place in Saighton each week during the summer.
There are a number of sportives in which members often participate and we also organise annual velodrome sessions. Keep your eyes on on our Facebook group and newsletter.
Chester Triathlon Club are associate members of Cycling UK

As well as our own club time trials there are:
Saighton time trials
Just turn up and have a go. They are very friendly! They are organised on a rota by different clubs from April until the end of August.
Cost: under £5. No pre entry form needed.
Location: They run every Thursday at Saighton CH3 6EN. There is plenty of parking opposite Abbygate college. (Route)
Time: 6.00 to 6.30pm sign on the line for a 7pm start.

Coed Llandegla Forest in North Wales.
The green and blue trails are great for beginners. The red and black trails offer more challenging and technical riding. The centre has mountain bike hire and a cracking café. For more information visit www.oneplanetadventure.com
Delamere is host to 2 family friendly Green graded trails and miles and miles of untapped and unmarked singletrack. The only way to find it is to explore.
Tracs, based at Delamere forest, lead a mountain bike ride every Thursday night (6.30pm). They are free to join and take place all year round – whatever the weather – with lights available for hire during the winter months. Contact Tracs for more information.

There are some fantastic local sportives. There are two starting in or near Chester on the same day of 10 June: Ride Chester starting at the Kings School, Chester and the Brian Farrington Memorial starting at the Eureka cafe. Club members are entitled to a 15% discount on the entry fee for Ride Chester – email firstname.lastname@example.org for the code.
The club is encouraging members to sign up for the Wirral Ark Mow Cop Challenge on 14 October as an end of season social ride. Keep your eyes open for more information.
