There are two Chester Tri League tables
Summer League (runs from April until end of September)
Winter League (runs from October until April)
Event Publication and Results
The events are published at the start of each league on the web site and are also in the club calendar.
The results are published on the club web site and notified via the fouum.
Generally the Summer League events are a selection of Open Triathlon events (i.e. open meaning participants can be attached to a club or un-attached) and the Winter League events tend to be a mixture of Club/Open swimming, running, cycling and duathlons events.
League Participation Rules
As a member of Chester Tri you automatically have entry to the Chester Tri League events.
However, if an event is classed as an Open event members have to be entered as a member of Chester Tri on the entry form. This applies to all members especially ones who are members of other clubs that are affiliated with either the North of England Athletics Association (or AAW Welsh equivalent) for running clubs, the Road Time Trials Association for cycling clubs and ASA (Swimming association).
Competitors using other competitor numbers unofficially will not be included in the Leagues. If a number becomes available you need to contact the organiser to have the number details changed. Anyone found to be competing with somebody else's number will be disqualified from the league.
Event Scoring
Summer League
The summer league will consist of several nominated sprint & standard distance events along with any middle and any long distance event.
A middle distance event - having a total distance of between 75-150km
A long distance - having a total distance of over 150km.
The winter league will consist of a mixture of Chester Triathlon Club organised events and open events.
For each race your score will be a percentage of the overall winner's time in each category (M/F).
For example
Overall Winner's Time 1:58:18 100%
Chester Tri Member 2:19:22 84.9%
Elite Section
If a Chester Tri member enters an event classed as an Elite race that is also the same course and distance and on the same day as an event in one of the leagues the Club member's score will be calculated using the times from the Elite race.
You can enter as many races as you like in the league but your final score is calculated on your best 3 race times giving a maximum potential score of 300. Each score is calculated using your time as a percentage of the overall winners time.
Winter League
This is slightly different as there are a mixture of club and open events in the Winter League: running, cycle time trial, swimming, duathlon.
Points in the winter league are allocated using your age adjusted time. First place receives 100 points, 2nd 99 points etc.
The formula to calculate your time is Actual Time * Sqrt ( ( (98 – age) * (98 + age) ) / 95).
In the event of a tie, the winner will be given to the person who has the most 100 scores, if these are equal, then it counts back to the number of 99 scores etc. In the event a winner cannot be determined a tie will be declared.
Again you can enter as many races as you like in the league. Your total score is calculated on your best result in each type of event i.e. best run, best cycle TT, best swim, best duathlon.
