Raid Alpine – Monday 22^nd August to Bank Holiday Monday 29^th August – Limited to 16 places

• The first 16 people to pay the deposit will be on the trip

 

Your deposit needs to be paid by 31^st January 2011 – in the event of any unsold places these will be available for Chester Tri friends. Tell me if you know any non-members who want to come along and I can keep them informed. After 31st January this trip will be open to the general public, and I expect any remaining places to be snapped up.

 

The balance will be due 8 weeks before the trip.

Ride the classic Tour de France cols starting from Geneva and finishing in Nice. 8 days, 7 nights with 6 days of riding. We will be supported by the same team who helped with the successful Pyrenean Traverse this year.

The price is €930 per person based on two sharing. The price will include the following:

• Airport Transfers (from Geneva airport and to Nice airport)
• 6 nights Hotel 2* half board (bed, breakfast & evening meal)
• 1 night Hotel 3* bed & breakfast (last night meal not included)
• Full vehicle support
• On route snacks, tea, coffee
• Transfer of luggage and bike bags
• Route cards, GPS files etc
• Entry to the Raid Alpine or Route de Grand Alps (to be decided)
• Medal or certificate
• Special cycle jersey

 

It does not include your flights which you need to book yourself – outbound to Geneva airport and returning from Nice.

 

Monday 22nd August

Arrive Geneva Airport at 16:25 and transfer to Thonon Les Bains (on lake Geneva).  Build bikes and then have evening meal with briefing.

 

Day 1 - Tuesday 23rd August

Thonon Les Bains to Megeve - Col de Cou, Col du Terramont, Col de Jambaz, Col de Ramaz and the Col de Joux Plane (optional).  Distance 93 Km or 136 Km with option.

Day 2 - Wednesday 24th August

Megeve to Val D'Isere - Col de Saisie, Col du Pre (optional), Col de Meraillet and the Cormet de Roseland. Distance 100 Km or 119 Km with option.

Day 3 - Thursday 25th August (change in route)

Val D'Isere to Le Monetier les Bains - Col de L'Iseran, Col de la Madeleine, Col du Telegraphe, Col du Galibier and the Col du Lauteret. Distance 150 Km.

Day 4 - Friday 26th August

Le Monetier les Bains to Jausier - Col d' Izoard, Col de Vars. Distance 115 Km.

Day 5 - Saturday 27th August

Jausier to Entrevaux - Col de Restefond, Col de la Bonette and Col de la Couillole. Distance 137Km.

Day 6 - Sunday 28th August

Entrevaux to Antibes/Nice - Col de Felines, Col du Buis, Col de Blenis, Col de Castellaras, and the Col de Ferre. Distance 115 Km.

 

Monday 29th August

We will be staying on the beach near to the airport at Nice.  A very nice hotel with pool etc.  We will transfer to the airport shortly after breakfast for the 11:15 flight.

This route is fantastic with many of the climbs being in the Tour de France in 2011 so plenty of paint on the roads to stare at as you ride up.
