Scoring
Summer League - you can enter as many races as you like in the league but your final score is calculated on your best 3 results. Only sprint and olympic events listed in the league count as well as your best middle distance (75 - 150k) and your best long distance ( > 150k) event.
Scores are calculated based on your percentage of the winners time.
An award will be made for the highest scorers in each of the age groups for both Males and Females : Under 40, 40 - 54, Over 55. Age is at end of year.
Winter League - this is slightly different as there are a mixture of club and open events in the Winter League: running, cycle time trial, swimming, duathlon. Again you can enter as many races as you like in the league. Your total score is calculated on your best result in each of the fours types of event i.e. best run, best cycle TT, best swim, best duathlon.
Points in the winter league are allocated using your age adjusted time. First place receives 100 points, 2nd 99 points etc. Maximum score for the league is 400.
The formula to calculate your time is Actual Time * Sqrt ( ( (98 – age) * (98 + age) ) / 95).
Age is at end of the year in which the league starts ie 2010/11 is age at 31/12/2010.
In the event of a tie, the winner will be given to the person who has the most 100 scores, if these are equal, then it counts back to the number of 99 scores etc. In the event a winner cannot be determined a tie will be declared.
