event_of_the_year_2009The Deva Divas Triathlon is a short distance ladies only race. It's now a well-known, popular event which, in 2009, won the coveted British Triathlon, "Event of the Year" award.

As always, the emphasis to ensure that the day is fun.  Many people see triathlon as a sport for those who are super fit but at Chester Tri we are encouraging more and more ladies to start training and take part in achievable, short distance races.
Chester Tri are pleased to announce that Deva Divas 2012 will again be held on the Chester Meadows within the city of Chester. 
          750M Swim
A 750m open water swim in the River Dee - wetsuits are compulsory. 2012 will see three waves of Divas swimming downstream from a sandy bay opposite the Chester Canoe club.  Friends and family will be able to map competitors progress by walking alongside the river! 
25K Bike
Once out of the River Dee, Divas will take their bikes from transition and make their way out onto Elizabeth Crescent.  Once off Queens Park the 25K cycle route heads out to Eccleston, descending onto the old Wrexham Road and out to Rosset before turning at the Marford roundabout to return to the Chester Meadows.  The course is generally flat with slight undulations at the beginning/end of the route!
5K Run
Off the bike and out of transition for the final discipline - a 5K flat off road run within the Meadows - before heading over the Finish line - with a big smile!!!
The Meadows is a wonderful area with plenty of opportunity for friends and family to cheer Divas on and take loads of photos!!

Race Charity - Breakthrough Breast Cancer

As in previous years, the Deva Divas Triathlon for Women would like to encourage participants to raise sponsorship for our official charity- Breakthrough Breast Cancer.

Sadly, nearly 46,000 women and 300 men are diagnosed in the UK each year.  But with your support, we passionately believe that this disease can be beaten.

Join the Breakthrough team to receive your FREE running vest and fundraising pack and help Breakthrough to achieve their vision of a future free from the fear of breast cancer.

In 2011 Divas raised £7,400 for Breakthrough!!  A phenomenal amount - well done Divas!

Catering 2012

Catering for 2012 will be provided by Cheshire Organics.  Energising pasta dishes, aromatic curries and all sorts of wonderful food will be available at the Divas race.  Not forgetting the fantastically delicious organic bacon and sausage butties as well as teas, coffees and cold drinks!  Welcome nourishment for competitors after a fab race day, and not forgetting, energising fuel for spectators to enable voluble cheering and encouragement!
